FUTURE KIDS NURSERY
Renaissance International School Saigon
The key to a successful education
programme is an excellent foundation
on which to build. 'Future Kids' provides this structured
foundation where by students are prepared in the best possible way to
become not only academically successful, but also well rounded
individuals able to participate fully and effectively in a global
community.
 The
cornerstone of our 'Future Kids
Nursery' programme is our firm
belief in nurturing each student to achieve his/her full potential in
all areas. We have high expectations of our student but understand that
each child is an individual with his/her own particular strengths and
needs.
Children develop at different rates and
learn through a variety of stimulating activities, resources and
experiences. By being aware of the child's 'readiness' and preferred
learning style, we are able to
maximise the learning potential.
Learning through play and activities is
central to our philosophy and the learning environment encourages the
students to participate and to learn in a child friendly environment at
the time when they are ready to learn.
Future Kids offers a British style
education that reflects an appreciation for the multi-cultural and
international character of our student body.
For the Pre-Nursery students, the
activities are almost exclusively
play based, developing social skills, hand eye coordination and
development of gross and fine motor skills through play and
physical activities.
At this stage, the
children are
developing
their language skills and a language rich environment helps them to
develop their vocabulary and communication skills though speaking and
listening activities.
Children love creative
activities such as art & craft, dance/movement and music and these are
part of the daily programme.
The Nursery programme is
more structured with the concept of readiness and learning styles taken
into account during the planning of the activities.
The curriculum offers a full range of
experiences with opportunities for a 'hands on approach'. Activities
are planned to promote children's learning in a positive, stimulating,
attractive, caring, safe and totally supportive environment. Team
planning is essential for continuity and for ensuring that the
curriculum is broad, balanced and purposeful, covering the following six
main areas of learning:
-
personal, social and emotional development;
-
communication, language and literacy development;
-
mathematical development;
-
knowledge & understanding of the world;
-
physical development;
-
creative development.

Why should
children start school when they are quite young? There are many reasons;
some of the main advantages are:
-
it
enables and encourages children to socialise
with their peers and other adults;
-
it
develops positive interaction;
-
it
develops self-confidence and independence;
-
it
provides children with opportunities for learning in different
situations;
-
it
prepares children for the start of 'formal' schooling;
-
it gives children an opportunity to experience a
wider range of friends, resources and activities than would normally
be available within the home environment;
-
it
gives parents the opportunity to have some personal time and space.
Whatever
age children start school, they bring with them a range of different
experiences. Young children have very curious and absorbent minds that
need to be stimulated for healthy development. They are constantly
encountering new experiences and developing their understanding,
skills and confidence.
How do children learn?
They do so by playing, talking, exploring, observing, questioning,
experimenting, repeating, reflecting and responding to their friends and
the adults with whom they are in regular contact.
Operating from two campuses initially,
(District 7 & District 3) 'Future Kids' is part of the
Renaissance International School Saigon. We
recognise that parents play a
significant role in children's education and we therefore operate an
'open door' policy where constructive parental involvement is
encouraged.
'Future Kids' is staffed by
qualified and experienced Early Years teachers. Teacher Assistants are
experienced in working with young children.
'Future Kids' is under the
direction of Ms Ingrid Rees-Thomas, who has 18 years experience
in international schools. Ms Ingrid has worked in schools in Iraq,
Bahrain, Thailand, South Korea and
Vietnam.
